Beatrice Wells Hampton.
PIONEER, La. – Beatrice Wells Hampton died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at Richland Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Delhi. She was 92.
Born in Mize, Miss., Mrs. Hampton was a longtime resident of Pioneer, La. She was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church and was retired from the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, serving as cook and assistant house mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade C. Hampton; and her parents, Arthur A. Wells and Ida Prince Wells.
She is survived by two sons, Wade C. Hampton of Ruston, La., and Troy D. Hampton of Olive Branch; two daughters, Barbara Bernard of Start, La., and Iris Mayberry of Dunn, La.; two sisters, Lois Lacy of Plain Dealing, La., and Linnie Smith of Bastrop, La.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pioneer Baptist Church with the Rev. W.H. “Buck” Curry Jr. and B.L. Rye officiating. Burial will be at West Carroll Memorial Cemetery in Forest, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Pallbearers will be Robert Hampton, Steven Hampton, Wyndell Wroten, Mike Collins and Robert Ryan.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe or to the Pioneer Baptist Church.
