Mr. W. S. Garrett, a former resident of Paint Rock, vicinity and retired stock farmer residing at LaVernia, died at his home there about 2:30 o'clock Monday night, December 27, 1948. Mr. Garrett was 86 years of age and would haven been 87 years of age Tuesday, December 28, 1948.
Mr. Garrett moved from Paint Rock area in 1941.
Funeral service were held from The First Baptist Church, Paint Rock with the pastor Rev. W. G. Dever conducting the services, being assisted by the local Methodist pastor, Rev. Wm. F. Hutmacher, at 2 p m Dec. 29, 1948.
The Salmon Funeral Home of Stockdale, Texas was in charge, assisted by the Newby Davis Funeral Home of Ballinger.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Mikeska, San Angelo; Mrs. Alvin Durden, Wall; Mrs. E. E. Rowe, Fresno, Calif.; and Mrs. Bill Trigg, Hico; and five sons, Coy Garrett, Paint Rock; Isham and Claude, Seagraves; Andrew, Stockdale; and Lonnie, LaVernia. His wife preceded him in death while they were living near Paint Rock on May 24, 1926.
Pall bearers were J. W. Pate, H. H. Ratchford, George Smith, and J. P. Roach, all of Paint Rock an Ira William Garrett, of LaVernia, Texas and Floyd Garrett, Stockdale, Texas.
