Young Mother Hurt in Marlin Home Fire

Special to the News

Marlin, Texas, Feb. 3. - Mrs. Howard Blann, an 18-year-old mother, suffered painful burns about her back and hands at the family home Friday when the back of her dress caught fire from an open heater while she was doing housework.

Mrs. Blann was alone at home with her 17-month-old son at the time. Her husband was attending the Marlin Trade School.

Mrs. Blann succeeded in extinguished (sic) her flaming garments with part of a bucket of water remaining in the house. The water had been drawn before the home water supply was cut off to avoid freezing during the current cold weather. The injured woman’s hands were burned as she struggled to remove the flaming clothing.
